“And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.” (James 2:23)
 
In the passage above it says that he was called God’s friend.” What does it mean to be a friend of God’s? It’s like a child who becomes an adult and begins to relate to their dad or mom like a friend, but they still treat them with honor and respect. So it is with your heavenly Father — in the infant stages of faith, you cannot fathom friendship until you mature through the elementary applications of: submission to God, trust in God, obedience to God, fear of God, and love of God and people.

We all want to be liked, cherished, and appreciated by our peers.  But what if I told you that God could not care less about these things?  What if I told you that God didn’t care how many Facebook friends you have, or how many people follow you on Twitter?  And what if I told you that God isn’t worried about how popular you are?  In fact, what if I told you that the purpose of the Gospel isn’t to fit in at all, but to – in fact – stand out

Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

When In Doubt

When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask Him, “Are You the One Who was to come, or should we expect someone else?” Matthew 11:2–3
 
Doubt seeks to destroy our faith.  It is in our discouragement, even despair that we begin to question God:  “What did I do wrong?”  “Lord, did you call me to this place of confusion?”  “Where is my joy and hope?”  “Are you even real or just a figment of my imagination?”  Left to its natural conclusion, doubt crushes our faith in Christ.
