How Much Time Do You Give God?

Rock Springs Church of Christ in Celina, TN

The following article was taken from the bulletin of the Rock Springs Church of Christ in Celina, TN. I have added my encouragement at the end. God bless!

There are 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week. 24 x 7 = 168 hours in a week.

If we attend:
  • Sunday morning Bible study and Worship: 2 ½ hours a week
  • Sunday evening: 1 hour a week
  • Wednesday night Bible study: 1 hour a week

If we add 2 ½ + 1 + 1, we have a total of 4 ½ hours a week which we give the Lord by attending all the church services.

Now, if we subtract that 4 ½ hours from the 168 hours which the Lord gives us every week (168 – 4 ½), that leaves us with 163 ½ hours in a week to do the things which we need to do.

4 ½ hours a week ain’t much, is it?

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Heb 10:24-25).

I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the LORD!’” (Psa 122:1)

*Family, the day of Christ’s return for His faithful is approaching. As it does, we will face many spiritual trials and persecutions, and a whole lot of doctrinal deception. As one of my instructors always said, “I am convinced…” of the importance of each of us meeting regularly to encourage one another to hold firmly to Christ, to live boldly in our faith and the hope of the new covenant for which Jesus died.

The psalmist mentioned that he was glad when he heard, “Let us go to the house of the Lord !” God’s house should be a place where we as believers joyfully experience intimate communion with the Lord, the fellowship of the Spirit, and the love and strength of fellow believers. Let us come together, as a family, and give honor to our Father.
